Process Engineer

We are looking for a passionate Process Engineer to join our Engineering Department and support the execution of projects. You will report to the Head of Engineering, and work closely with stakeholders, sales team, engineers, designers, production and services teams. You will be involved in a number of projects around the world and at the same time work on high-impact R&D projects.

What you’ll do

Overall

  • Responsible for owning and executing process engineering activities required to support sales tasks, commercial, internal and R&D projects as well as service cases.
  • Build and update company engineering design guidelines, calculation and deliverable templates, and standard system configurations.
  • Build application knowledge base with aim of becoming subject matter expert for system design and integration.
  • Collaborate with clients and partners to understand project requirements and develop optimal solutions accordingly.
  • Apply principles of process engineering, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials science.
  • Develop the front-end engineering design of systems and solutions based on project requirements that being contractual, functional, performance, manufacturability, operability and serviceability.
  • Provide technical information to support procurement activities.
  • Participate in project management tasks such as design reviews, status reporting, and team meetings.
  • Discuss and solve problems with manufacturing, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Communicating with international/domestic stakeholders and suppliers, and internal staff to ensure successful and timely project execution.

Process Engineering (is the understanding and application of the fundamental principles and laws of nature that allow the transformation of raw material and energy into products that are useful to society, at an industrial level.)

  • Develop system configurations with accompanying process simulations and/or heat and material balances.
  • Execute necessary process engineering activities to generation front end engineering design deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, control philosophies, equipment sizing etc.
  • Work in tandem with mechanical, electrical and controls engineers to ensure the functionality and completeness of the design.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and government regulations.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide direction and/or support to the field service technicians.
  • Write technical documents in English at an engineering level.
  • Identify risks, proposes solutions and develops mitigation strategies.

Qualifications we are looking for

  • University degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years total industry experience in heavy industry such as oil and gas, power, or packaged equipment OEM.
  • Experience in EPCM environment is highly valued.
  • Substantial experience in front-end engineering design (FEED) for example developing design bases, process/control descriptions, operating guidelines, M&E balance, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment and piping item sizing and selection, hydraulic calculations and line sizing etc.
  • Background in Fluid Mechanics/Thermodynamics with knowledge of automation and controls is required.
  • Background in Refrigeration, food processing equipment, chemical, pharmaceutical, material handling industries is highly valued.
  • Implementation of international projects is an asset.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experienced in working with process simulation software (such as Aspen Hysys), Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of potential process safety hazards and risk assessments.
  • Experience with equipment installation, commissioning and maintenance.
